News :: General News : ArmA II dev diary three is now here |
The third in a series of developer diaries and tutorials from the developers of ArmA II has arrived, with the latest instalment focusing on the squad commands and orders, which can be used to control AI team mates in the single player portion of ArmA II.
In the trailer, players are taught how to give commands, and are introduced to the context-sensitive system that gives soldiers certain orders based on the situation at hand.
While those that have been playing the game for a while should know the basics, new players may learn something new by watching the video.

News :: General News : Weekly Digest - 11/05/09 |
Each week, we collate the most popular stories that we published over the past seven days, plus a lineup of the most downloaded files added in the same timeframe. That way, in case you missed something, you can catch up in one helpful little spot, every Monday morning.
It's starting to get cold here, especially in the mornings (and yes, "cold" is all relative to where you are in the world) - so I'd like to think that last week's news will warm you up a bit. You can make sure you're up to date with news of the StarCraft II beta, or maybe the "future features" promised in Team Fortress 2, or perhaps the sad news that 3D Realms has closed down (no more Duke Nukem Forever!). In happier news, we've also got a review of the Logitech G35 Surround Sound headset, and it looks pretty interesting.

News :: General News : Friday Roundup! (7/08/2009) |
While it is Friday, it certainly doesn't feel like it is the end of the week here, with my personal weekend likely to be full of catching up on University work and burying my head in research.
For those of you who don't have such commitments, you can point your fingers and laugh at me for choosing to begin a Masters degree, or you can explore a collection of demos and full clients that have been added to the file library in the past week.
This week, we have for you demos from All Aspect Warfare, Angel of Attack, East India Company, Hearts of Iron III, Jutland, Nation Red, Order of War, Restaurant Empire 2
... and we have for you full games from Gates of Andaron, Mortal Online, Orbiter, World of Kung Fu.
Enjoy!

News :: General News : Steam downtime scheduled on the 7th of August |
It is often thought that the Steam servers run in a constant state of flux, never needing anything changed, fixed, or altered. While that may seem to be the case, Valve have announced that on the 7th of August (locally, at least) the Steam servers will be put into surgery briefly, because they need some "software maintenance".
The downtime is expected to last three hours, and will begin on the 7th of August at around 10:30AM Adelaide time. The servers "should be" fully operational again at around 1:30PM - with Valve aiming to make everyone's life as easy as possible.

News :: General News : Battle.net gets a fresh look - and new features |
The fine folk over at Blizzard Entertainment have unveiled the latest iteration of Battle.net, which allows World of Warcraft account holders and other Blizzard customers to access their World of Warcraft accounts, the WoW Armoury, forums, and other Blizzard services through the use of a single set of log-in details.
The new Battle.Net accounts are described as "an evolution" of existing Blizzard accounts, with all Blizzard account holders now Battle.Net account holders. Details regarding this should have been emailed to users who are affected. At the present time, the changes only apply to North American (which, by extension, affects Australian accounts), with the changes expected to roll out to European and Korean users in the near future.

Exclusive interview with Virgin's Timo Glock |
More than five seconds off the pace of the frontrunners, and with just 209 laps to show from seven days of testing, Virgin's Timo Glock could be forgiven for becoming disillusioned with progress at his new team.
Glock, however, is determined to keep his chin up ahead of the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix and remains hopeful they'll eventually gain ground on their rivals

News :: General News : This week's releases |
The re-imagining of a classic, the all-new Aliens Vs. Predator finally goes on sale this week for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. But given the poor performance of such recent Rebellion titles as Rogue Warrior, some are concerned that the venerable UK developer may have lost its touch. Also out this week: a new Sins of a Solar Empire bundle, and a Phoenix Wright spin-off game starring the world's most pompous prosecutor, Miles Edgeworth...
